Echinacea, also known as the (purple cornflower) is a native North American plant which is found in open wooded areas. It is has been used in herbal remedies for many years to treat many different ailments.  There are nine species of echinacea and purpurea is considered to be the most effective and is also the most commonly used species.

One of the main health benefits of echinacea is treating colds and flu by strengthening the immune system and promoting white blood cell production within the body. If you have unwanted bacteria in your body then the white bloods cells will attack the bacteria which will help keep your body healthy. For the maximum benefit start taking echinacea at the first sign of an infection.

Unlike antibiotics that are prescribed by your doctor and are designed to kill specific types of bacteria, Echinacea helps our own immune system to be better equipped in fighting bacteria, viruses and even cancer cells.

Echinacea is also used in the treatment for bladder infections, malaria, gum disease and athlete’s foot. It is also used for problem skin such as eczema, psoriasis and acne as it contains anti-inflammatory properties.

Echinacea also helps with faster healing of skin abrasions and helps with the recovery time of some viruses.

You can treat your problem skin with echinacea by using a natural face cream that contains it or an ointment that can be used directly onto the affected area.
